Hardwood Floor Refinishing in Walkerton, IN
Walkerton sits at the southwest edge of St. Joseph County, and it is the furthest of the towns we cover regularly. It grew as a rail and agricultural town, and the housing dates largely from that period.
The floors reflect it. Village housing from the early twentieth century with red oak in the principal rooms and softwood behind, plus older and more rural properties with wide-plank pine and fir. Very little of it has been touched in decades, which is generally good news: an untouched floor still has all of its sanding budget available.
That is the useful thing about a town this size. Floors here are commonly on their first refinish rather than their third, which means a full sand and refinish is a reasonable use of the thickness rather than the last one available. In heavily worked-over city housing we often have to recommend against sanding; out here we usually do not.
Most Walkerton jobs start with removing a covering. Carpet or sheet flooring went over these floors in the mid-century decades and has been there since.
Walkerton is about twenty-two miles from South Bend, so we group work in the southwest of the county where possible. Call (574) 555-0148.
